Once the concession has been awarded, after the redevelopment it will host families for rent at an agreed rent or in an emergency. Rabaiotti: “An innovative model that intercepts the challenges of the city of tomorrow”

“We are very satisfied – intervenes the councilor for social and housing policies Gabriele Rabaiotti -. After a troubled journey for the Boldinasco farmhouse, we have launched a challenge to the city and this proposal goes even beyond the expectations we had designed, opening new frontiers for living in Milan. The context was interpreted as a model full of memory on the one hand but on the other ready to intercept the challenges of the city of tomorrow. It is a composite proposal, full of ideas and functions: different forms of living alternate with education towards sustainable development, spaces for new trades and professions, workshops for free time in a framework held together by the desire to include and to integrate".

History
The building complex is located on an area owned by the municipality, whose total surface area is equal to 5.166 square meters. It is made up of the actual farmhouse (three buildings with a gallery distribution around two internal courtyards for a surface area of 2.397 square metres), which historically was located in the center of the small village of Boldinasco crossed by Via De Lemene, to which is added a green area for a total of 2.500 square meters.

Completed at the beginning of the 900th century around the original nucleus, which dates back to the 700th century, after an initial life as a traditional agricultural centre, in the years preceding the Second World War the complex experienced another life as a cutting-edge livestock farm, to then be given to the municipal administration in the 50s and dedicated, ever since, to social housing. Since 2006 the farmhouse has been abandoned because it was declared unusable.

The project
Once restored and recovered, the complex will consist of 45 apartments for an unprecedented housing mix: the majority will fall into long-term rental construction at an agreed rent, while 9 will be reserved for people in housing emergency indicated by the Administration. A new building will also be built which will rise next to the farmhouse, it will develop on two levels in addition to the ground floor (only partially on a third in the portion on Via De Lemene) and will contain 17 apartments of the 45 in total.

The spaces on the ground floor will be dedicated to services for the inhabitants: among others, the Time Noticeboard is planned in the courtyard of the farmhouse, to promote the culture of reuse and sharing; a sorting center for a Gas (solidarity purchasing group); a coin-operated laundry service; a laboratory for small maintenance jobs; educational workshops and workshops for children and adults on topics such as sustainable mobility, care of public spaces, social integration; a music rehearsal room, soundproofed and equipped, accessible by reservation; a space for the psychological support of adolescents; free access environments for study and work; the Locanda solidarity, i.e. 6 studio apartments in the southern part of the farmhouse for a light hotel reception service managed by people with fragility supported by supervisors; the music pub, a new meeting space that can also host live events. Finally, the internal vegetable gardens will be enhanced and managed (for a surface area equal to at least 40% of the green area for public use), and their use will be assigned for 2/3 to the residents of the farmhouse and the remaining 1/3 to others citizens of the neighborhood.
