Milan, October 23 2019 – Thursday 24th, starting from 16 pm in via Gigante, the new public space overlooking the premises managed by the Milan Polytechnic “Off Campus San Siro” will be inaugurated.

It is a place to rest, play, work and meet for all citizens and for the inhabitants of the San Siro district in particular, a space that becomes a means of connection between different parts of the city, integrating the similar work already done on the nearby Via Abbiati last March.

The transformation of the street space in the public housing district, which began at the end of September, saw the active involvement of various subjects: carried out by the WRP - West Road Project research group of the Polytechnic of Milan, with the contribution of Italia Nostra Onlus - Urban Forestry and Vestre Urban Supplies Center (Oslo), in collaboration with some local associations and with the municipal administration, the project saw the creation of a colored horizontal graphic that reaches the spaces of the Neighborhood Laboratory in Piazza Selinunte , the installation of some car bollards, the restoration of the lawn under the trees, the creation of a wooden platform and the positioning of furniture and seats.

A space conceived and designed as a place for relationships and created thanks to the signing of a collaboration agreement signed between the Municipality, the DAStU (Department of Architecture and Urban Studies) of the Polytechnic of Milan and a large group of associations, such as Mapping San Siro, San Siro neighborhood workshop, Alfabeti Onlus, Tuttinsieme social cooperative, Community Project social cooperative, Genera onlus, Fare Together, Il Telaio delle Arti, Legambici, Legambiente for cycling, Mums at school, Sheb Sheb, Zuccheribelli onlus and the Intercultura Istituto commission Cadorna.

The inauguration party, complete with musical entertainment and buffet, was attended by, among others, the councilor for Participation, Active Citizenship and Open Data Lorenzo Lipparini, Andrea Di Franco, professor of the Polytechnic and head of the project, Gabriele Pasqui, director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies and delegate of the Rector for Social Policies of the Polytechnic.
