Neighborhoods. Free distribution of bread and fruit, a new service for public housing tenants

It starts today on an experimental basis in three blocks of flats.

Milan, May 28 2019 - Against food waste, in favor of the people who live in public housing in the Municipality, a new distribution service of bread and fresh fruit started today, activated by MM and Milano Catering with the collaboration of the tenants.

The blocks involved, at least in this first experimental phase, are three: that of via Saint-Bon, that of via Zoagli-Cittadini and that of via Cogne. The tenant committees of these groups of buildings, on a voluntary basis, three days a week will collect surplus bread and fruit from the primary schools in their neighbourhood, thus preventing them from ending up in waste, and will distribute them until they run out and free of charge on days and pre-established times at the Committee premises to all tenants who show up to request it.

The first block to start with the service is that of via Zoagli-Cittadini, where distribution will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 16pm to 30pm. Tomorrow it will be the turn of via Cogne 18 and via Saint Bon 30: here the distribution is scheduled in both cases for Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 4pm.

The initiative will continue until the schools close on June 7th and then resume in September, with the start of the new school year.
