The company Urban value S.r.l. was awarded the Municipality's tender to reactivate the spaces with recreational-cultural activities

Milan, 23 May 2019 – Transforming the Bussa overpass into a container of activities open to the public in the sporting, recreational, cinematographic, artistic and entertainment fields and, for a few days in August, also reactivating Corvetto and Monte Ceneri with attractive spot events. The Urban Value by Ninetynine company will bring activities, urban quality and entertainment to the three Milanese overpasses. With an economic offer of 58 thousand euros (on an auction basis of 55.195 euros) in addition to the set-up and management costs, the company was in fact awarded the tender promoted by the Administration, as part of the Neighborhood Plan, for the assignment on an experimental basis of a portion of the Bussa overpass (12 months renewable for another 12) and for a part of the grounds of the Corvetto and Monte Ceneri overpasses (for a duration of between 5 and 20 days in the month of August).

As regards the design of the new temporary look of the Bussa overpass, Urban Value will be supported by the TSPOON studio, winner - with the "Look at me" project - of the design competition announced by the Administration which in a second phase will lead to the regeneration of the bridge. This will guarantee maximum correspondence of the temporary use project with the subsequent and definitive configuration.
The company, which by June will have 1.450 mXNUMX of the bridge delivered by the Municipality (about a third of the total), will create a place of activities and events open to a heterogeneous public and which will allow the alternation of various activities and the involvement of different partner. For example, there may be spaces dedicated to entertainment, sporting and recreational activities, exhibition areas, refreshment and commercial areas.

The objective will be to ensure that even the little ones can take advantage of a new space where they can have fun in a play area and take part in workshops, while teenagers can take advantage of a new meeting point, perhaps with a skate park and musical events. For older children, an open-air cinema, markets dedicated to vintage and design, food festivals, artist installations and sports in general are envisaged. Also pay attention to activities that concern older citizens. Furthermore, the spaces could be intended for the B2B target and therefore used for the creation of corporate events, film sets, sporting events, fashion shows, as well as social themed events. From a traffic point of view, the current car lane towards the Isola district (north) and a large part of the existing car parks will be kept open.

Corvetto and Monteceneri instead aim to become a new meeting place for the summer in the city: for some days in August the spaces will be able to host mainly evening events such as open-air cinema, thematic dinners, silent parties, laser parties and a star observation with an astronomer from the Milan Planetarium. During these days of August, chosen as a test period by the Administration in relation to the lower expected flows, traffic will be interrupted. This will also be an opportunity to test car flows in the future perspective of the demolition of Corvetto and of a different use for mainly public and cycle mobility of Monteceneri, as indicated in the PUMS approved by the City Council in November 2018.

“We are very proud of the victory of this tender because it allows us to bring our model of temporary urban regeneration effective in the short term to Milan too, after the positive experiences of Rome and Naples. A model applicable to any temporarily underused property. Urban value is based on the systematic use of multiple temporary uses of the same structure, organized in such a way as to contribute to the success of each other and over which the cost of regeneration is fragmented. This approach allows us to make the project inclusive, giving numerous local entities the opportunity to be part of the process, thus becoming a piece of the regeneration of the space and composing a large mosaic together - explains Simone Mazzarelli, founder and CEO of Urban Value.
