Milan, January 26 2022 – Abandoned vehicles will be removed from courtyards and public housing areas owned by the Municipality and ALER. Thanks to a protocol signed between the Municipality of Milan and ALER and an operational agreement with MM SpA, it will be possible to proceed with the removal of abandoned vehicles, unfortunately often present in public buildings, both owned by the regional body and in municipal ones managed by MM.

"Removing abandoned vehicles from the courtyards of popular neighborhoods will allow us to eliminate an important cause of degradation – declare the councilors Marco Granelli (Security) and Pierfrancesco Maran (Housing) –. We want to give ever more dignity and security to citizens residing in public housing ".

On an experimental basis, removal services have already been activated in recent weeks. The local police intervened for example in via Bolla in ALER buildings, where last Saturday two carcasses of burned vehicles were removed, the last stage of a series of activities which allowed the eviction of a total of 18 vehicles, seven abandoned, four owned, four were seized for violations of the Highway Code and one car was stolen and returned to its rightful owner.

Removal operation yesterday also took place in Corso Garibaldi 111 where two abandoned cars and an abandoned motorbike were removed from the courtyard of the municipal MM management houses. Within the MM properties, thanks to the testing of the agreement, 14 vehicles have already been removed. Now with the signing of the Protocol and the operational agreement, the control and removal activity will become fully operational, giving greater decorum and security to the working-class neighborhoods of Milan.

Following the report from the managers of the houses, MM and ALER, the local police will carry out the necessary checks on the vehicles and will identify any owners so that the manager will invite them to scrap the vehicle. In case of non-compliance within 30 days, the local police will immediately have the vehicle collected, informing the owner that he will have 60 days to recover it before it is demolished, bearing the recovery costs. In case of non-compliance, a fine will be imposed on the owner and the vehicle will become the property of the dismantler.

The removal service for the MM neighborhoods owned by the Municipality will be carried out by the company that has the concession for removals of vehicles abandoned on the road areas or by the Municipality, ALER will do the same with its own representative.
