Milan, July 29 2021 - Provide high-profile and qualified training on the topics of well-being and sustainability, with particular attention to the future of cities, adopting a vision centered on improving the overall well-being of people, capable of identifying the objectives to be pursued, knowing the tools to adopt and evaluate possible shocks to prevent. These are the main elements that characterize the third edition of the "School on the well-being and sustainability of cities 2021", organized by the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS) in collaboration with "Milano 2046" (Laboratory on the future of the city promoted by Presidency of the City Council), with the participation of eight universities in the Milan area (Bicocca, Bocconi, Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Humanitas, IULM, La Statale, Politecnico, San Raffaele) and the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation (FEEM).

“The very high specialization, the authority of the trainers and the extraordinary participation of all the Milanese universities in the project make this School a unique training experience for those who want to study, for those who administer or represent bodies and associations that deal with the territory and of development - intervenes the president of the municipal council Lamberto Bertolé -. Equipping yourself with the tools necessary to understand and direct the future of the territories and therefore of society and the world through politics is necessary and today represents the first challenge for an administrator and the first commitment for an aware citizen. The interest and participation found in previous editions are a clear signal and an explicit invitation to continue with ASviS in this direction".

“Educating about sustainability and well-being - underlines the president of ASviS Marcella Mallen - means investing in an education capable of creating a collective conscience that trains us to live in a dimension of less individual and more community value. The School of Milan in this sense is a training ground where ideas and good practices can be formed to prepare for the transformative actions that we will have to undertake to facilitate the transition towards new, more sustainable and resilient development models, capable of taking care of the common home, respecting the environment and fundamental human rights”.

The School welcomes 50 participants, including representatives of local public administrations, teachers from schools of all levels and universities, doctoral students and representatives of organizations and associations dealing with territorial policies. The School will be launched through a "hybrid" path, which will include asynchronous lessons, webinars and group work, while the in-person residential phase will take place from 17 to 19 February 2022 in the classrooms of the Municipality of Milan and the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation. The start of the asynchronous path is expected by the end of September, while phase two of dedicated webinars is scheduled for the end of October. Registration applications must be sent by September 12th via the website Milano2046  or that ofASviS, using the appropriate form, accompanied by the CV and cover letter.
The participation fee is 250 euros and includes accommodation and teaching materials. At the end of the course a certificate of participation will be issued. The School provides a hybrid learning method (blended learning) that combines classroom activities with mediated activities (e-learning), webinars and project activities. There are three main areas on which the educational path will be divided:
1) Knowing (knowledge): transmit the skills necessary to understand, in a systemic and integrated way, the concepts related to well-being and sustainable development.
2) Know-how (skills and tools): develop the skills to study, address and plan the future of cities (mapping the present, defining future objectives, simulation methods, evaluating scenarios, etc.).
3) Knowing how to be (attitudes, values): delve into the philosophical, psychological, anthropological, ethical themes that stimulate the predisposition for the common good and sustainability as lenses through which to look at the world.
