The associations that have promoted the personal and collective growth of women in the nine municipalities were rewarded

Milan, July 28 2021 – Si è tenuta oggi in Sala Alessi, a Palazzo Marino, la consegna del secondo ‘Premio Milano Donna’ alla presenza del Sindaco di Milano Giuseppe Sala, della Delegata del sindaco alle Pari opportunità di genere Daria Colombo, della calciatrice Regina Baresi, madrina dell’evento, e dei rappresentanti dei nove municipi.
The prize includes a contribution of 2 thousand euros. 

“Anche quest’anno il Comune di Milano ha messo a disposizione di ciascun Municipio un contributo economico da assegnare al progetto migliore a sostegno delle donne – ha spiegato Daria Colombo –. Per la prima edizione del premio siamo stati costretti ad organizzare la consegna ‘a distanza’, mentre oggi siamo qui insieme nella ‘casa dei milanesi’ e questo valorizza l’iniziativa e rende merito al lavoro delle associazioni. Il Premio Milano Donna è una delle molte azioni che abbiamo messo in campo in questi anni per fare di Milano una città attenta alle pari opportunità di genere e vicina alle piccole realtà che lavorano per questo obiettivo con impegno straordinario nei quartieri”.  

“The presence of the associations – states Mayor Sala – allows us to see first-hand the incredible work that has been done in the neighborhoods in favor of women, even in the difficult period of the 'lockdown'. The projects we are awarding today aimed at promoting integration into the social fabric, promoting autonomy and independence, and preventing the scourge of mistreatment and violence within the home. Projects that brought benefits to women and indirectly represented support for families, creating that irreplaceable support and proximity network in the neighborhoods." 

For Municipality 1 the prize went to the 'Teatro inverosimile' association which with “Riscatti” combined a photographic exhibition dedicated to disabilities with a theatrical show inspired by the life of the painter Artemisia Gentileschi.  

The 'Telefono Donna onlus' association, which has been committed to combating gender violence for decades, has obtained recognition in five municipalities.  
In Municipality 2 with a project, "Independent", aimed at women who 'love too much' to allow them to overcome emotional dependence through recovering self-esteem.  
In municipalities 4, 5 and 9, the association held a series of meetings led by experts to offer support and prevent mistreatment and violence.   
Finally, in Municipality 6, the project intervention focused on the prevention of bullying and cyberbullying with meetings in schools and youth centres.

Municipality 3 has chosen to reward the "Women from the world, in the world" project of the 'COGESS' association, aimed at foreign women to strengthen their participation in the life of the community.  

The volunteer organization 'ITAMA' (Italian for mothers) was awarded in Municipality 7 for offering free Italian language courses to encourage the integration of foreign women.  

Municipality 8 has chosen the cultural association 'Errante' which, with the “ITINERARI-e” project, has created wellness and self-knowledge itineraries through the places of the Municipality.

The Milano Donna Centers

 A ciascun Municipio il proprio Centro Milano Donna. 

Sono già sei quelli attivi in città, a partire dal primo, che ha inaugurato tre anni fa nel Municipio 8, in via degli Appennini, quartiere Gallaratese. Seguìto, sempre nel 2018, dal Centro di viale Faenza alla Barona, nel Municipio 6. Nel 2019 è stato aperto il Centro del Municipio 2, in via Sant’Uguzzone e, nel corso del 2020 e nei primi mesi del 2021, in  piena pandemia, sono stati inaugurati il Centro Milano Donna del Municipio 3, in via Narni 1 (quartiere Crescenzago-Rizzoli), il CMD del Municipio 4 in via Oglio 18 (Corvetto), e il CMD del Municipio 5 in via Savoia 1 (piazza Abbiategrasso).   
A settembre partiranno le attività nel Centro Milano Donna del Municipio 9, in via Ciriè, a Niguarda. Dopo l’estate, il Municipio 7 assegnerà all’associazione vincitrice del bando il CMD di via Fleming 19, a San Siro. 
Municipality 1 will also have its own Center; the council recently unanimously approved the proposal to build one. 

In total in 2020 and in the first six months of 2021, the active Centers contacted and followed approximately 1.500 women and 120 children. During the pandemic, many of the existing activities were redefined remotely, in order to guarantee continuity.
