Local police. Over a thousand counterfeit clothing items seized

The owner of a shop in the Paolo Sarpi area is being investigated

Milan, January 18 2020 – T-shirts, jackets, coats, dresses. And also necklaces, bracelets, rings and brooches. 1.166 items and accessories were seized by the Anti-illegal Unit of the local police in a single shop in the Paolo Sarpi area, the owner of which was investigated for the crime of counterfeiting.

The clothing and accessories displayed for sale were in fact equipped with counterfeit labels and logos of some of the most famous fashion brands, including Chanel, Gucci, Moncler, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Burberry, Dior, Bulgari , Balenciaga, Hermès, Yves Saint Laurent, Kenzo, Moschino, Prada.

“An important operation – comments the deputy mayor and councilor for safety Anna Scavuzzo – which gives a further signal of attention from the Municipality of Milan to merchants and citizens, even more so in a period of increased purchases like this one. The fashion, clothing and leather goods sector is strategic: we protect honest buyers and businesses by targeting those who market fakes."

The operation of the Anti-illegal Unit took place during a service in civilian clothes and also made it possible to find several plastic bags each containing dozens of labels of the same brands, ready to be applied to other items on sale in the shop.

The owner of the business, a 38-year-old woman of Chinese origin, was unable to show either the purchase invoices or other useful documentation to certify the origin of the goods and was therefore investigated for the crime of counterfeiting.
