Local police. 58 people were fined and four public businesses closed for 5 days

Milan, January 22 2021 – 58 people have been sanctioned and four public businesses have been closed for 5 days by the food supply unit of the local police in Milan this week for failing to comply with the rules to limit the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The latest intervention, yesterday in collaboration with the Cathedral Unit of the local police, concerned a restaurant in via Ludovico da Viadana: 17 people were found inside eating lunch sitting at the tables.

Another 20 people, in addition to the owner, were sanctioned on Wednesday evening because they were having dinner sitting at the tables of a restaurant in Largo La Foppa, which was also closed for five days.

Same suspension of activity for a kiosk in Viale Brianza, where on Tuesday two customers sitting for consumption and the owner were fined, and for a pub in Via Cesare da Sesto, where on Sunday evening 16 fines were imposed for administration and consumption on the place.

“We are absolutely aware of the moment of concrete and profound difficulty that the category of restaurateurs is experiencing in recent months - comments the deputy mayor and councilor for Security Anna Scavuzzo - and we will be at their side for any legitimate and legal battle to obtain aid and compensation. But not respecting the rules in force puts all those honest restaurateurs and traders who instead stick to the rules in even greater difficulty. The interventions that lead to temporary closures are therefore not only our duty, but also a gesture of protection for those who behave honestly."
