Protocol signed together with the Milan Police Headquarters: system integration will be active by the end of the year

Milan, November 6 2020 – The Memorandum of Understanding was signed today by the Commander of the local police of Milan Marco Ciacci and the Police Commissioner of Milan Sergio Bracco for the use of the data collected by the police monitoring software system for investigative purposes by the police. Area B cameras: 55 active to date, which will be 187 when fully operational.

“The cooperation between the Police Forces and the local Police of Milan - commented Commander Marco Ciacci - finds an important response in terms of safety for citizens in the integrated management of video surveillance systems”.

The purpose of the Protocol is to define the methods of management and use of the license plate reading system, managed by the Operations Center of the local police of Milan, so that it can directly forward the transit information to the central national system for license plates and transits (SCNTT) at the Milan Police Headquarters. The latter interfaces with the SCNTT at the National Electronic Center (CEN) in Naples, through the departmental network of the Ministry of the Interior.

The objective, which is added to the monitoring of city mobility and the containment of the most polluting emissions, is to implement, from an operational point of view, an effective territorial control activity for preventive purposes and to combat crimes, thanks to a structured system - which will be operational starting from the end of this year - capable of detecting emergency situations in real time or in any case the occurrence of conditions that require the intervention of the police.
