Local police. In one year 181 investigations for illicit waste dumping

Milan, January 15 2021 – From January to December 2020 there were 181 investigations for illicit abandonment of waste carried out by the local police of Milan, thanks to the collaboration with the Environment area of ​​the Municipality of Milan and AMSA, which led to the positioning of 19 targeted camera traps (TLC) on areas particularly affected by the phenomenon. In total, over 2019 investigations have been carried out since May 330.

In particular, in 2020, there were 113 abandonments carried out using cars or vans, which resulted in six complaints, four seizures of vehicles ordered by the judicial authority and 71 administrative sanctions. Furthermore, investigations into 18 cases are still ongoing. The types of waste discharged are mainly bags of municipal waste, wood, furniture and furnishings, household appliances, vehicle parts and batteries, construction and waste materials.

However, there were 68 investigations involving the abandonment of waste carried out on foot, which led to 21 administrative sanctions. In this case the discharges mainly concern black bags with household waste, household appliances, wood and furniture.
