Local police. Parents arrested for mistreatment and serious injuries to their three-year-old daughter
Milan, June 4 2019 - The Women and Minors Protection unit of the Local Police, coordinated by Commander Marco Ciacci, arrested on Friday evening a man and a woman, about to escape abroad, accused of mistreatment and serious injuries towards their three-year-old daughter .
The investigations began in mid-May, when the hospital where the little girl was hospitalized reported possible mistreatment to the Court of Milan.
The x-rays carried out on the little girl, who was hospitalized for arm pain, revealed a worrying picture. The illness was caused by a displaced fracture, now with bone calcification, attributable to three or four weeks earlier, but the little girl also appeared to have other previous multiple fractures of dubious nature.
The parents, both 29-year-old Egyptians with four other children, were unable to provide credible explanations and the contradictions in their statements raised further doubts about their version, which is why their phones were monitored.
The wiretaps highlighted a scenario of mistreatment carried out with greater vehemence against the hospitalized daughter and in particular, while the little girl was still in hospital, in a conversation the two parents also suggested poisoning her.
The Local Police, in concert with the Juvenile Court, decided to immediately remove the child from her parents' rights and prevent them from approaching the room where she was hospitalized.
The subsequent technical activities highlighted an alarming and worrying condition also in reference to the couple's other children, which went as far as the hypothesis raised in several conversations between the parents of taking action to take the girls back to the hospital and flee abroad.
Given the picture that was emerging, in agreement with the public prosecutor of the Fifth Department of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Milan, the agents of the Women and Minors Protection Unit decided to activate constant monitoring in the couple's neighborhood of residence, also checking the various air carriers in order to prevent their escape abroad.
Last Friday, after following them for a few hours and after having ascertained that the two parents had purchased one-way plane tickets to Egypt, the officers proceeded with the arrest of the man and woman on a bus headed to Malpensa. With them the other four children and a man and a woman accused, the first of complicity in the escape, the second also of mistreatment.
The man and the woman were taken to prison in San Vittore, while the other four children of the couple, two boys and two girls aged between one and a half and eight years, were removed from parental rights and welcomed in a protected community.
