Operation born from collaboration with the commercial activities and offices present in the area

Milan, February 7 2020 – Following a series of comparisons with the activities and offices overlooking Piazza dei Mercanti, a local police operation was held today, coordinated by the Decentralized Command 1 and aimed at identifying and controlling individuals who are found daily in this area and often disturb both businesses and people passing by.

The operation involved agents and officers, in plain clothes and in uniform, from Decentralization 1, the Anti-illegality Unit, the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Dog Unit, who were responsible for closing the accesses, guarding the inside of the premises overlook the square and check about thirty people present. The checks, which began at 15.30 pm, then moved to the Cathedral Square, where another dozen people were checked. Three people were taken into custody for identification, as they did not have documents.

The garrison and control operations of Piazza dei Mercanti will continue in the coming weeks.
