Three other officers are also under investigation. This morning's investigations and operations were carried out in collaboration with the State Police

Milan, 13 April 2021 - The State Police and the local Police of Milan, at the end of investigations coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Milan, carried out this morning the precautionary measure of house arrest ordered against four local police officers, at the time of all made in service to the Drug Enforcement Unit.

The restrictive measures were issued by the Judge for preliminary investigations, Dr. Guido Salvini, at the request of the Deputy Prosecutor Dr. Maurizio Romanelli and the Deputy Prosecutor Dr. Elio Ramondini, having held the recipients of the measure responsible in various capacities for the crimes of embezzlement, abuse of office as well as ideological and material forgery committed by the public official. The last two cases considered aggravated by the aim of concealing another crime and of ensuring profit, product and impunity, as well as favored by the malicious induction into error of the judicial police officer responsible for the entire Unit.

The investigations were started in correspondence with the diffusion of the journalistic reports of the television program "Le iene", broadcast in October 2020, following which the local Police Command had already ordered, as a precaution, the transfer of the four employees to other offices with administrative competence.

During those services, the testimonies of some Italian and foreign citizens were collected who declared that they had been victims of conduct carried out, in violation of the law, by the operators of the Drug Enforcement Unit during the carrying out of judicial police.

In particular, their statements outlined a system established within the group aimed at stealing large sums of money during searches aimed at finding drugs. In one case, the information provided by the victim was also supported by audio-video documentation.

The delegated police forces therefore proceeded with an in-depth analysis of all the material available for television production, duly subjected to seizure together with that still held by the private citizen, as well as with the reconstruction of the episodes object of dispute through documentary analysis and the questioning of victims and other people informed about the facts.

The searches were carried out in conjunction with the execution of the precautionary measures against the four arrested and three other agents belonging to the Nucleus at the time, who were also under investigation for the same types of crime.
