Local police. The new scooter service is underway
Milan, 25 June 2020 - A new local police service is starting to monitor cycle paths, preferential lanes and some pedestrian areas: 4 electric scooters initially in use at the Decentralized Command 1 and 8 dedicated officers, on morning and afternoon shifts, who will check the usability of the paths and will take care of preventing and combating irregular parking.
In particular, the service, launched on Thursday 25 June on an experimental basis, provides for one patrol per shift to patrol the Venice-Buenos Aires-Monza axis, the cycle paths along the Cerchia dei Navigli and the preferential lanes between Fatebenefratelli and De Amicis.
The second patrol of the Duomo Unit will simultaneously deal with the supervision and control of the San Babila-Duomo-Mercanti-Castello axis.
“We announced it a few days ago, presenting the restart of the Neighborhood Police service - comments the Deputy Mayor and Security Councilor Anna Scavuzzo - and now it is reality. Let's start from Municipality 1, which due to its shape is well suited to accommodate this experimentation, already extending to cycle areas and lanes in several other Municipalities in the city".
