Social policies. Solidarity taxi to protect health, for over 65s trips dedicated exclusively to vaccines and medical visits

Milan, 23 April 2021 – The free public transport service 'Solidarity Taxi' at the service of health protection and the vaccination program for elderly people.
Given the difficulty of many of them in moving independently for medium-long distances and the need to optimize resources, the trade associations of the taxi sector, the European Guido Venosta Foundation, which finances the project, and the Municipality of Milan have decided to reorient the service offering for the over 65s which, from now on, will be dedicated exclusively to trips to vaccination centers or to hospitals for medical visits.

The 'Solidarity Taxi' initiative, which started at the beginning of March, will also remain active for all the other groups of citizens identified through Milano helps, volunteers active in the network, people with disabilities, with serious socio-economic difficulties, minors welcomed in communities they need transfers.

Use is simple: just call Milan helps through the contact center of the Municipality 02 02 02 (each request corresponds to a single journey) to be put in direct contact with the single number referred to by the three radio taxis who will arrange, immediately or by appointment, to make a car available.

For 'Solidarity Taxi' the Guido Venosta Foundation has made a budget of 1 million euros available, which serves to cover the entire cost of the rides. The free taxi service is active every day until available funds run out.
