Social policies. Over 31 thousand interventions during the social plan

Milan, September 3 2019 – With over 31 thousand services provided, the social plan of the Municipality of Milan was concluded which, during the summer months, strengthens the monitoring and support activities of the most vulnerable people who, thanks to the high temperatures and the emptying of the city for the holidays, can find themselves in difficulty and need more support.

From 3 June to 2 September, 31.449 services were provided, including almost 14 thousand home-delivered meals - the most requested service - and over 4 thousand interventions for personal and home cleaning.

The Administration's social plan, coordinated by the Department of Social and Housing Policies, also included participation in recreational activities: for example, over 2 thousand free entrances to the swimming pool were distributed and almost 700 tickets for cinema and concerts were distributed. , opportunities to which are added the delivery of newspapers (over 3 thousand), guided tours and trips (414) and over 500 collective lunches and pizza parties.

“Once again - comments the councilor for social and housing policies Gabriele Rabaiotti - the social workers of the Municipality of Milan have shown great attention and commitment in an often difficult period of the year. We thank all the employees who allowed us to achieve important results again this year and the Third Sector who collaborated with us in the implementation of the social plan".

The social plan does not end at the end of the summer, but continues throughout the year: the toll-free number 800777888, used during the summer for reports and requests from citizens in difficulty, will remain active, from Monday to Friday from 8am to 16 pm, to strengthen the services that deal with the fight against loneliness and will represent a first point of contact for orientation to the Municipality's welfare services. In this way the elderly, the most fragile people and those who care for them will be able to stay in contact with the Administration.
