“Once again - declares the councilor for social and housing policies Gabriele Rabaiotti - the Municipality of Milan is in the front row to support citizens most in difficulty and integrate the income support measures provided by the State with its own resources. We do this with the awareness of being the municipality that invests the most funds to combat poverty: in 2019 alone, according to the figures budgeted, we will manage 52 million to address this issue. We also believe very much in the importance of a path of social reintegration that every Milanese who receives this economic support will undertake to start in order to get out of the situation of hardship, so that these resources are not just a welfare contribution, but an opportunity for redemption for everyone".

To access these municipal measures it is necessary to have been resident in Milan for at least one year, have an ISEE of less than 6 thousand euros, not benefit from other subsidies provided by the Social Policies Directorate or other income support measures and not have requested them. Furthermore, it is necessary to meet at least one of these requirements: have at least one dependent minor in the family unit, have a person in the household with a disability or civil invalidity certification, have a person over 64 years of age in the household . The admitted beneficiaries will be called by the Social Services to sign up for a personalized project which, adapting to their availability and abilities, directs them towards economic self-sufficiency.

The recognized contribution for 2019 amounts to 2 thousand euros - this is the maximum amount that can be paid based on current procedures, increased compared to last year when the Municipality of Milan stopped at 1.500 euros - and will be paid in two tranches: an advance at the time of signing the personalized project and the balance after six months, at the end of the journey. The potential beneficiaries are also increasing: the budget available is 4 million euros, therefore sufficient for 2 thousand beneficiaries, while in 2018 only 1.110 contributions were paid.
