Social policies. Municipality and INPS together to promote access to support measures for the homeless

The "INPS for all" service will be activated at Casa Jannacci and at the CASC. Rabaiotti: “A collaboration that will help the most disadvantaged citizens to make use of their right”

Milan, October 15 2019 – INPS and the Municipality of Milan are close to the most vulnerable citizens to accompany them in the process of ascertaining the requirements for accessing support services and for preparing the application.

The "Inps for all" service was presented today and will start in the two municipal offices of the Help Center of the Central Station in via Sammartini 120 and in the "Enzo Jannacci" Reception House in viale Ortles 69 and will be dedicated to homeless people. Casc users and guests of Casa Jannacci will be able to undergo, thanks to the support of the Municipality's operators, an electronic questionnaire which will return an indication of which measures provided by the INPS could prove appropriate for the individual. In the event of a positive outcome, the operators will take care of transmitting the data directly to INPS, making an appointment for the user in question at the CASC or at Casa Jannacci. One morning a week, four operators from the National Social Security Institute (two for each office) will be physically present in via Sammartini and viale Ortles to accompany the homeless who have requested it through all the steps of submitting the application for the most suitable measurement. Based on the number of requests for help received at the help desk, the service, which has been activated simultaneously in several Italian cities, after an experimental phase, may be strengthened through the extension of opening hours and dedicated staff.

“This precious collaboration with INPS – explains the councilor for social policies Gabriele Rabaiotti – will help us to offer the homeless complete care which does not end only in providing information or guidance, but represents real support from expert operators which will help the most disadvantaged citizens to make use of their right. We are starting today with an experiment, but we will work in the coming months to extend it to other parts of the city and to encourage access for all people with fragility."

“The collaboration with the Municipality of Milan – declares the director of metropolitan coordination of INPS Gregorio Tito – is historic because it begins in 2017 with the first protocol signed with the mayor Giuseppe Sala for the progressive establishment in the Municipalities of integrated points for the unitary management of policies to support the family and the weakest groups. 'INPS for all' was created to look for the least fortunate, those who sometimes remain excluded from support measures because they don't know about them. The objective is to intercept these needs by moving from a reactive public administration to a proactive public administration".
