Social policies. Shopping vouchers, 5.400 applications accepted for over 15 thousand people

The ranking of the second call financed thanks to the Mutual Aid Fund has been published. With the first tender, 15.800 vouchers have already been assigned

Milan, August 27 2020 – There are 5.404 applications for shopping vouchers for citizens in difficulty due to the Coronavirus emergency, for over 15 thousand people, which starting in the next few days will be financed through the tender which closed on 17 July. The notice followed the same procedures as the first round in April, through which over 15.800 vouchers were assigned.

The amount of resources useful for the operation, initially equal to 5,848 million from the State Fund for food aid, was implemented with municipal resources coming mostly from the Mutual Aid Fund, which brought the overall base of the funds to available at over 8,048 million euros. This has allowed on the one hand the scrolling of the ranking, and therefore the financing of all the applications deemed eligible during the verification phase of the requirements, and on the other the reopening of the terms of the call itself, for which approximately 1,9 million are available .

“Despite the difficulties of the municipal budget – declares the councilor for social and housing policies Gabriele Rabaiotti – we have chosen to help families by renewing the call for the assignment of shopping vouchers, with an investment of 1,9 million resources. We are aware that the coming months will not be easy, so we have resolved to continue to support all Milanese people during this difficult period, especially the most vulnerable ones, guaranteeing services and accompanying them towards recovery".

In order to help as many people as possible, the amount of the vouchers has been partially reduced compared to April, and will be equal to 250 euros for families of up to 3 members and 500 euros for larger ones. As a method of disbursing the contribution, this time too the beneficiaries will be able to choose between the Soldo prepaid card and the Satispay app to download onto their smartphone. Applicants will be notified of the results of their request to the email or text message addresses communicated at the time of submitting the application.

Overall, by the deadline set, approximately 10.600 applications had been received, but of these, during the verification phase of the requirements, many were not admitted, while investigations are underway for some.

The Civic Services Directorate for registry checks, the Collections and Collections Directorate for income checks and the Information Systems Directorate for the management of online flows collaborated in the request control process.
