Milan, June 7 2019 – The Board of Palazzo Marino has approved the guidelines for the assignment of the public shower service for 24 months, starting approximately from November 2019.
The service, initially designed to meet the needs of a population who lived in apartments lacking sanitary facilities, is now used mainly by people with social fragilities and the homeless, several hundred a day. Since 2011, when 3 showers were provided in the two municipal structures of via Pucci 50 and via Anselmo da Baggio 30.678, the number of users and the services provided have increased considerably, reaching 87.748 showers in 2018. For this reason it is essential for the Administration continue to maintain the service for which the contract expires on October 31st.

“In recent years – declares the councilor for social policies Pierfrancesco Majorino – we have strengthened and will continue to do so the services for people with fragility. We want to do it in this case too, insisting on supporting a service that is historically present and functions well in this city. By ensuring that more and more people in need can access it and by combining health and hygiene objectives with those of social support, thanks to the experience of always highly trained staff."

Individuals who demonstrate that they have many years of experience in managing personal hygiene services and combating serious marginalization will be able to participate in the public notice, which will be launched in the coming weeks. The winner of the tender will manage the two municipal structures, guaranteeing the reception service, supervision, cleaning and disinfection of the showers open from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 16pm, organizational management, supply of hygiene and maintenance products. ordinary.
The award will take place on the basis of the economically advantageous offer criterion, attributing up to a maximum of 70 points for the qualitative element and up to a maximum of 30 points for the economic offer for which the starting auction is set. at 790.612,54 euros.
Among the objectives is also that of strengthening orientation, with the aim of going beyond the simple provision of a personal hygiene service and directing the most fragile people towards local social services.
