Social policies. Mental Health Week starts on October 5th

Milan, October 4 2019 - On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, the Municipality of Milan, in collaboration with Municipality 1, with the Third Sector associations and the Milanese mental health and addictions departments, launches a week of initiatives - from 5 to 13 October - dedicated to the daily work of care in the field of mental health through creativity, art, projects aimed at enhancing the protagonism of the people involved.

The initiatives, open to citizens, aim to raise awareness of mental health issues to overcome the stigma that often accompanies mental distress.

“This week – stated the councilor for social and housing policies Gabriele Rabaiotti – aims to be a moment in which to put people with mental health problems at the center of the discussion of operators and institutions who have always been committed to guaranteeing them a dignified life and, at the same time, at the same time, a way to organize initiatives during which those directly interested can express their point of view and participate in moments of leisure designed especially for them. It is necessary to move forward with ever greater conviction on this path, working to guarantee all the necessary attention and protection but at the same time courageously opening up the city, recognizing everyone's space".

The very rich program of the week opens with the conference entitled "The alliance between family members and carers: a dialogue on psychotropic drugs" which will be held on Saturday 5 October starting from 9 am at the parish of Sant'Ignazio di Loyola in Piazza Don Luigi Borotti 30 (for registrations: info@ass-diversamente.org).
