Labor policies. From the Municipality of Milan commitment to the riders

Milan, March 30 2022 – The Municipality cares about riders and workers of digital platforms. Themes that will also be at the center of the Milan Employment Pact which is currently being drafted.
This was announced by the councilor for Economic Development and Labor Policies, Alessia Cappello, during the joint council commission on Labor Policies and Active Mobility which took place this afternoon.

During the commission, the text of a council motion was discussed, presented by councilors Nahum, Tosoni, Romani and others, on the topic of services dedicated to these workers. Representatives of the CGIL also participated in the commission.

"Together with councilor Marco Granelli – said councilor Cappello – we discussed the possibility of carrying out road safety courses specifically for riders in a short time and in collaboration with the local police. We consider this intervention a priority together with the Italian courses and the opportunity to direct these workers to training and reskilling courses carried out with the Municipality and AFOL. We share with the councilors and the unions the need to convene the representatives of the delivery companies around a table in order to raise awareness of putting in place. provision of refreshment and service areas for these workers".

"The riders – highlighted the councilor – were fundamental during the pandemic period, constituting a service for the whole city. We know that the issue of work concerns primarily the Government and the Region, which have the tools to introduce real changes , but also know that Milan can send an important signal of inclusion and innovation on this issue too. I thank all the councilors for bringing the points we discussed today to the attention of the Council and on which I confirm our commitment".
