Galimberti: “The institutions' task is to contribute to the construction of an attractive society and at the same time ensure that no one is left behind”. Registration is open for orientation courses, job shadowing, self-entrepreneurship support

Milan, 20 December 2020 – The new system of services aimed at young people between 16 and 34 years old who need support in looking for work, who wish to change their educational or professional path or who find themselves in a situation of crisis or difficulty is born in Milan.

The project of the Municipality of Milan "MiG-Work - MiGeneration work in progress", winner of the Lombardy Region tender "Lombardy belongs to young people 2020", aims to create a network of integrated services and free training opportunities. "On the site MiG Work it is possible to consult the catalog of all the activities and register.”. There are many opportunities on offer, all completely free.

For some it is necessary to register by 31 January 2021. Among these, training courses in various fields, from the most innovative such as those for approaching the sector of environmental sustainability in the water and manufacturing sectors or for digital assistance for the elderly to those for find a job in the equestrian field or to approach the profession of barman. They all include a final paid internship. It is also possible to access job shadowing paths which consist of observing a worker within his operational context. In this case the person will be placed within a company to learn about its working reality and be accompanied in the definition of a professional project. Finally, it is possible to enroll in preparation courses for young people who wish to identify job opportunities more consistent with their studies and their abilities, encouraging encounters with the corporate world.

But there are also many different initiatives that can be booked throughout the year, without a fixed deadline. For example, group or individual courses are available for the acquisition and strengthening of transversal skills and to support self-entrepreneurship (to improve web reputation or to set up a start-up). School or work orientation offices are also open and meetings are organized to find out about all the volunteering opportunities in Italy and abroad. There is also a help desk dedicated to young foreigners who need help looking for work and processing paperwork and, finally, workshops are available for schools: to promote the development of entrepreneurial ideas linked to the theme of sustainability, to improve students' abilities to present themselves, hold interviews, understand and enhance their aptitudes.

“We believe very much – declares Education Councilor Laura Galimberti – in this project which aims to create an integrated system to support young people in entering the world of work, both by helping them to recognize their aptitudes and abilities and by supporting them in directing their efforts in a productive manner. We believe that this is the task of institutions: to contribute to the construction of an increasingly dynamic society and an attractive city and, at the same time, to ensure, through projects like this, that everyone is able to integrate and that no one is left behind".

The project, in addition to immediately providing concrete opportunities, is aimed at improving and making the service system progressively more fluid and functional also through direct listening to young recipients, businesses and other stakeholders through a co-planning activity participatory (world café, meetings, interviews, administration of questionnaires) which will lead, by the end of 2021, to the shared creation of an interactive web platform for access to services and contents (for example to materials and documentation of training courses , or even video courses and video tutorials).
