Youth policies. The Corvetto and Rogoredo neighborhoods are transformed into sets with "Cinemadamare"

From 27 July to 2 August, 60 young filmmakers from over 40 countries around the world will make short films about Milan  Milan, July 16 2022 - The Corvetto and Rogoredo neighborhoods will host the twentieth edition of Cinemadamare, a gathering of young filmmakers from all over the world, which will stop in Milan from 27 July to 2 August. It is the second time in a row that the event stops in the Lombardy capital.  Created with the support of the Cariplo Foundation, as part of the "LaCittàIntorno" project, and with the patronage of UNESCO and the Municipality of Milan, Cinemadamare is a traveling production and training campus for cinematography and audiovisual, organized in partnership with 51 universities and film schools from all continents. It lasts more than three months and hosts over 220 young filmmakers. Registrations, bus travel from one city to another and overnight stays for those participating in multiple weeks of campus tours around Italy are free.  60 filmmakers from more than 40 countries are expected to attend the Milan stage.  For a week, Corvetto and Rogoredo will become a huge open-air set: the kids will not only shoot their films here, but they will also live in Municipality 4. Collaboration, work and mutual support are the values behind the event. The campus, in fact, will involve the young people of the area by making them, through their stories and the places they frequent, protagonists, extras and assistants in the films that will be shot during the event.  The operational base will be the headquarters of the "La Strada" Cooperative, where the editing rooms will be set up, and the filmmakers arriving from outside the city will be accommodated in the spaces of the Rogoredo84 Association.  "The strength of Cinemadamare lies in the ability to involve boys and girls of different nationalities in a project to valorise the city of which they are authors and protagonists - commented the councilor for Youth Policies Martina Riva -. The exchange of experiences between those who live in these or in other neighborhoods of Milan and those who arrive in our city from abroad will therefore be an added value for the short films that will be made and for the kids themselves. I hope that many Milanese filmmakers will participate: this is an opportunity not to be missed both for them, who will be able to put their passion to the test in a stimulating international initiative, and for Milan, which will be seen, experienced and represented by young people from all over the world, who in the future may decide to return, for tourism, study or work."   This year the Cinemadamare Caravan tour started on June 11th from Rome and will end on September 16th: every week it stops in a different city, touching eight regions, from Lombardy to Sicily. At each stage the kids make short films, describing the places that host them. The themes that can be covered are totally free - from multiculturalism to food - and the genre of the film.  Anyone can join the group, even once the tour has started.  Boys and girls from Milan interested in participating can present themselves directly at the Production Meeting, the initial meeting of the event, which will be held on 28 July, at 10 am, in the Meeting Room of Palazzo Reale. From there the making of the shorts will begin: the kids will organize themselves into a crew, each putting together their own equipment, and will produce films lasting a maximum of 10 minutes.   On August 2nd the products created will be screened during an evening open to the public and the best works will be awarded prizes at the end of the "weekly competition".
