Housing policies. Affordable rent, the notice for support measures dedicated to pensioners is online

The municipal contributions will be paid through the Milano Abitare social rental agency

Milan, October 19 2019 – The public notice for interventions to support the payment of rent on the free market dedicated to pensioners residing in Milan is online. As part of the strategy to support affordable rentals, the Administration has decided to activate some new measures to meet the needs of the most exposed groups of citizens, including them in the annual operational project of Milano Abitare, the social agency affiliated with the common.

One of these is dedicated to tenants whose income comes exclusively from work, old age or seniority pensions, if the incidence of the rent exceeds 20%. In this case, the expected contribution may be requested, which amounts to 1.500 euros and which will be paid to the owner of the apartment as a deduction from future rents, against a commitment not to increase them for a year or, if the contract is in expiry, to renew it under the same conditions or, again, to sign a new one at an agreed fee.

The Notice does not expire, but will remain open until the available resources are exhausted, which currently amount to approximately 423 thousand euros, but may be increased based on any availability in the Agency's budget.

Requirements for accessing contributions:
In addition to the requirements already mentioned, possible beneficiaries must comply with the following rules: at least one member of the family unit must have resided in Lombardy for 5 or more years; not be in arrears or subject to housing release procedures; not having adequate accommodation for the family within the region; do not hold a rental contract with a future sale agreement; present a maximum ISEE of 15 thousand euros.

The contribution application, signed by both the tenant and the owner of the apartment in question, must be submitted via certified e-mail to the address milano.abitare@pec.it, or at the Agency's headquarters (c/o Villa Scheibler, via Felice Orsini 21, 20157 Milan) or sent by registered mail with return receipt.
