New sidewalks, crossings and benches in the Città Studi street which will also become zone 30. Work on the Corvetto will follow. Maran and Granelli: "Part of the plan for a safer and more livable city"

Milan, June 25 2020 - Wider sidewalks, new pedestrian crossings, redevelopment of the tree-lined parterre. The redevelopment work has started on via Pacini, at via Bazzini, a new piece of the "Piazze Aperte" project created in collaboration with Bloomberg Associates, National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) and Global Designing Cities Initiatives.

The tactical urban planning intervention was proposed by the Beekeeping Collective as part of the public notice promoted by the Administration last autumn for the identification of new areas to be regenerated in 2020.

Work has therefore started for the reconstruction of the pedestrian crossing between via Bazzini and via D'Ovidio, followed by those for the widening of the pavement along via Bazzini. We will then proceed with the arrangement of the tree-lined parterre along the stretch of via Pacini, also to protect the plants from irregular car parking, with the installation of new benches and racks. Via Pacini is also destined to become a new zone 30: the intervention will be carried out by traders as part of the new procedures for land occupation and will allow the placement of tables and chairs along the road.

"If on the one hand we are working tirelessly on the Strade Aperte project to bring new cycle paths, pedestrian streets and slow-speed roads by the summer - declare the councilors Pierfrancesco Maran (Urban Planning) and Marco Granelli (Mobility) - on the other hand we return to working on Piazza Aperte, taking care of the interventions that citizens and associations had proposed and that we would have liked to carry out in the spring. The health emergency has slightly slowed down the work schedule but has made the importance of regenerating squares and public spaces even more evident. to live the city safely, even with light but timely interventions such as those planned in via Pacini and via Ferrara".

In fact, in the next few weeks a similar intervention will start in Piazza Ferrara, as proposed, again in the context of the public notice, by the Consorzio del Mercato di Piazzale Ferrara, the Informal Group for Differently Employed People, the Snam Foundation, MadeInCorvetto, Cittadini Attivi, Laboratorio Mazzini and Polisocial. In this case the project, which aims to regenerate a complex area of the city, involves the widening of the sidewalks on via Mincio, the installation of benches, the creation of a stretch of cycle path in the direction of via Comacchio and new pedestrian crossings. Tactical interventions proposed by citizens are subsequently scheduled in via Laghetto, via Toce, piazza Sicilia, Largo Balestra and piazzetta Capuana.
