This afternoon extraordinary mobilization of social guardians to preside over the public housing blocks

Milan, June 28 2019 - In these days of intense heat, there are over 1.200 people, including social workers and volunteers, who collaborate in the implementation of the plan for sociality of the Municipality of Milan, occupying a various role of monitoring the situation of elderly or frail people who in the summer months they don't go on holiday and may find themselves in difficulty due to high temperatures or loneliness.

These are 1.200 "sentinels" against the heat and loneliness who carry out the social custody service in public housing blocks and beyond, social workers, operators from third sector companies who collaborate with the Municipality, interns from Celav (mediation centre at work) included in the staff of the Department of Social Policies to help with the social plan. The Municipality also pays particular attention to the homeless who may find themselves in difficulty due to high temperatures. In addition to the mobile and daytime units that the Municipality puts in place, in collaboration with third sector companies, the number 0288447646 is active for reports from citizens. The Municipality also has an agreement with around ten day centers equipped so that those without a home can have a place to stay cool, use the toilets and showers and eat.
