Tajani: "A first step to experiment with new competition methods that allow the contribution of new technologies to be fully exploited"

Milan, 1 November 2020 – The selection action of the new staff of the Municipality of Milan continues in the name of protecting health and limiting regional and interregional travel. In order to stem the current Covid emergency, all the oral tests of the candidates admitted to the second phase of the selection competitions for the new Administration staff will be held online, through individual interviews.  
“A courageous choice and in line with all the health protection requirements currently necessary - declares the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Human Resources Cristina Tajani -, which fully shows the Administration's willingness to continue with its project of expansion and generational turnover of its staff in order to guarantee services in line with the needs of the city, even in this particular health emergency situation which is changing our lives and our ways of interacting. This new remote method - concludes Tajani - can represent a first step towards experimenting with new competition methods that allow the contribution of new technologies and innovation to be fully exploited, avoiding travel and travel costs for candidates".  
The first to take the oral tests electronically, starting from the end of November, will be the 747 candidates who passed the written test of the administrative operator competition in September, announced by the Municipality last December. Competition which saw the overall participation of over 12 thousand candidates. Of those admitted to the second oral test, 8,5% are aged between 18 and 25, 42,4% between 26 and 35, 30,9% between 36 and 45, 15% between 46 and 55 and finally only 3% between 56 and 65 years old. It is significant to note that among the candidates, even if the competition was aimed at graduates, over 60% have a degree. The geographical origin is also indicative with approximately 62,5% of those admitted residing in Lombardy, while the remaining 37,5% come from other regions, of which approximately 16% are from the south and the islands.  
The telematic method, in addition to guaranteeing the health of the examinees and members of the commission, allows candidates in possible fiduciary isolation to participate in the selection as well as proceed with the normal phases of the competition even in the event of a local or national lockdown.
