Milan, 14 December 2021 – The Collaboration Pact was signed today, Tuesday 14 December, between the Municipality of Milan, Municipality 2, the "Vittorio Bottego" state primary school, local entities and inhabitants of the neighborhood, for the shared regeneration of the Gardens of via Amalfi, through the creation and care of a collective vegetable garden, the organization of social and cultural activities and the organization of outdoor teaching activities.

At the same time, the pedestrian passage connecting the school in via Bottego to the gardens was inaugurated, through the delivery of the keys to open and close the gate by the municipal company MM to the friendly grandparents, active with the Pedibus service.

The opening of the passage was included as an activity in perspective of the "Porta Adriano" collaboration agreement, which identifies Piazza Costantino as a place to take care of through cleaning activities, cultural events, moments of aggregation, as well as a space used for experiences of outdoor teaching.

"With the signing of this Pact – declares the councilor for Civic Services, Participation and Decentralization Gaia Romani – we are taking another step forward towards the urban regeneration of the Adriano district. In this area, squeezed between Via Padova and Piazza Costantino, which runs along the Naviglio Martesana, for years citizens have been hoping for a redevelopment of the play area and safe access to the primary school. Thanks to the opening of the passage, a new story is inaugurated, dictated by an ambitious project. which brings together actions of land care, environmental education and also cultural entertainment, which sees the Municipality of Milan, citizens and associations as protagonists, aimed at regenerating parts of our city".

The Pact is the result of a participatory process promoted by the Administration as part of the Lacittàintorno program of the Cariplo Foundation, in which the action of Labsus - Laboratory for Subsidiarity and Italia Nostra - Urban Forestry Center was inserted, in order to involve the inhabitants of fragile contexts in the reactivation and regeneration of abandoned spaces.

The aim of this collaboration is to create a place where civil spirit, culture and sport coexist, to offer citizens a new space that promotes meeting, aggregation and social cohesion of young people and families. Among the planned activities are the management of a collective vegetable garden inside the former bowling alley, the organization of workshops, lessons, recreational activities and cultural and artistic events, using the garden as a real classroom for teaching outdoors.

The girls and boys, together with the citizens and with the support of Italia Nostra, will take care of the space and promote sustainable green management through the reuse of excess plant material (such as autumn leaves), transformed into compost, useful for cultivation of the vegetable garden in a circular economy logic.
