The Wiki Loves Monuments competition, created to enhance the historical-cultural heritage of the cities, will close on September 30th

Milan, September 20 2020 – Perfect light and social distancing ensured by the need to take a truly unique shot, demonstrating your love for the monuments of Milan. The famous Wiki Loves Monuments competition, created to enhance the historical-artistic heritage of a city, known by photography professionals, but also by passionate beginners inspired by Milan, is approaching its final stages.

There are still ten days left to identify the subject, take photos, choose the most representative one and send it to the competition.

The monuments selected for the contest and made available are around 200 and it will be interesting to see how, in the fourth consecutive year, the Milanese will be able to enhance the symbols of their city. It is certain that there will be no shortage of photographs from the lockdown period, but together with these we will also have new representations of this September in Milan which has the flavor of a second spring. The Administration's invitation is therefore one: “Really do your best!”.

Photographers will be able to upload their shots online by September 30th and thus participate in the competition which in past editions has seen the Fabbrica del Vapore and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele among the awarded subjects.

Added this year to the 196 monuments identified by the Municipality of Milan for the previous editions are the Gallery of Modern Art, the Museums of the Sforzesco Castle, the Museum of the 900th century, the Museum of the Risorgimento and Laboratory of Modern and Contemporary History, the Museum Manzoniano - Manzoni's house and Porta Romana.

On September 25th the organizers of WLM will hold an online conference on the theme "Enhancing cultural heritage through the Internet and photography", the mission that lies within this competition and at the basis of the heartfelt and great participation of people in this initiative .
