Milan, November 24 2020 – The Air and Climate Plan, the instrument studied and drawn up by the Municipality of Milan to protect health and the environment, enters the heart of popular sharing with the launch of the area laboratories in which more than 200 bodies, associations and companies, stakeholders of the city. The text of the Plan, divided into actions, was approved last October 15th by the Council and the process has begun which will soon bring it to the examination of the Commission and the City Council which will have to approve it.

The process of citizen participation is taking place in parallel with the institutional-administrative process of the text of the Plan. Its objective is to make the actions proposed in it closer to the needs of the city and its inhabitants and above all shared by those who have an interest and desire to be an active part and supporter of a necessary and decisive environmental transition.

From tomorrow, Wednesday 25 November, more than 200 stakeholders will discuss online in four area laboratories, dedicated to examining in depth the contents of the actions envisaged by the specific areas of the Air and Climate Plan and to find out what entities think about them, city ​​associations and organizations. The first will be the "Milan connected and highly accessible" laboratory.

“The participatory process that accompanies the adoption of the Air and Climate Plan is in full swing - declared the councilor for Participation, Active Citizenship and Open Data, Lorenzo Lipparini - and is involving, step by step, thousands of citizens. We began with a listening activity through the questionnaire proposed last summer, and the meetings for illustration and active participation are now coming to life, such as the next thematic workshops that will follow the meetings held with the municipalities. They will be animated by representatives of all the entities interested in issues related to the environment, mobility, energy and greenery who responded to our public appeal and who with their commitment can really make a difference. We are convinced that this process of shared document development can generate a far-reaching and effective Plan, guaranteeing a concrete environmental transition process."

This is the city calendar: Wednesday 25 November " - Area 2: Milan connected and highly accessible; Thursday 3 December “Scope 3: Milan with positive energy”; Thursday 10 December “Scope 4: Cooler Milan”; Friday 11 December “Scope 1: healthy and inclusive Milan”. At the end of each meeting the participants will complete the Satisfaction questionnaire.

The results of the participatory process, as well as all the information material and documentation relating to the Plan which have already been published, will be available for consultation on the Milano partecipa platform. Among the texts published also the Participation Pact which establishes how citizens can participate and will be represented with their proposals.

The platform will allow the Plan to be observed in its entirety, sharing all the textual documents that compose it, so that they can be commented on, integrated and discussed by individual citizens, before the approval of the Air and Climate Plan by the Town Council.

The first phase of the participatory process "Preliminary listening to the city" took place this summer with the participation of the Milanese in the questionnaire "Citizens and climate change: an exploratory analysis". There were approximately 10.000 participants and 7.500 citizens who completed the questionnaire by completing all the questions: the outcome of the consultation was published at the end of September in the attachments section in the section dedicated to Air and climate plan of the website of the Municipality of Milan.

The second phase of consultation began on November 10th with the first local meeting - online from 18pm to 30pm - at Town Hall 20. It will continue throughout the month of November and the first week of December with presentation appointments in every municipality. The next scheduled meetings are Tuesday 30 November (Town Hall 3); Thursday 24 November (Town Hall 9); Tuesday 26 December (Town Hall 1) and Wednesday 1 December Town Hall 4). From the first meeting in Town Hall 3 with around fifty people connected and 550 views on the YouTube channel we reached around 250 people connected live and 1.500 views.
