Milan, September 26 2022 – From today a new installation illuminates the neoclassical architecture of the Grand Staircase, built between 1770 and 1778 based on a design by Giuseppe Piermarini.
In the dialogue between the monumental clarity of Palazzo Reale and the contemporary sign of the light designed and created by the Panzeri company, the lighting intervention develops respecting the history and authority of the places in which it is inserted, borrowing the aesthetic principles of aristocracy simplicity and purity of composition.

Furthermore, – declared the Councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi – the lower energy impact of the project lighting technology, compared to the previous system, makes this initiative an effective tool for containing consumption, particularly important in the historical moment we are experiencing".
Designed and created specifically for this installation, the new light groups mounted on the walls enter into dialogue with the architecture that contains them, giving life to a new formal and aesthetic dialectic. The lighting design project therefore goes beyond the purely technical dimension to transform itself into an opportunity to enhance the architectural and monumental heritage of the city of Milan, which can be enjoyed by anyone who accesses the public spaces of Palazzo Reale.
Furthermore, the introduction of cutting-edge lighting modules from a technological point of view also has a positive impact in terms of energy savings, reducing consumption by 35%.
The intervention was coordinated by the Management of Palazzo Reale and handled in the design and implementation aspects by the Panzeri company which is the technical sponsor.
