Milan, August 5 2020 - The Municipality of Milan launches the screening campaign with serological tests for all employees. After discussions with the trade unions, the Administration is ready to start from 24 August, on a voluntary basis, with workers - educators and auxiliary staff - engaged in nursery schools and nursery schools; while from 10 September all employees who request it will be able to undergo testing.

To date, around 1.300 educators, starting with those working in summer centres, have already taken or scheduled the serological test and, in the event of a positive result, have undergone a swab test. The remaining approximately 2.000 workers in nursery schools and nursery schools have already been invited to undergo tests, again on a voluntary basis, starting from 24 August and until the first days of September, in order to be ready for the reopening of services.

“We have chosen to give priority, for the screening campaign launched by the Administration, to educational staff - declares Education Councilor Laura Galimberti -. A sign of attention for the youngest citizens and for the educators who will work to restore to girls and boys their right to sociality".

"The Administration promotes screening on a voluntary basis for all its employees - comments the councilor with responsibility for Personnel Cristina Tajani - and does so by launching an internal communication campaign which will serve to inform and promote the use of serological tests, a fundamental in the fight against the prevention and containment of the spread of the virus.

In the next few days, the consent forms and the list of locations will be available and the application for registration and the form for booking appointments through the online Agenda will be activated.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Administration, serological tests have already been carried out or scheduled for over 1.500 employees. Thanks to the agreement between ATS, ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco and the Social Policies Directorate of the Municipality of Milan, 217 tests were also carried out on workers in disabled day centers (in addition to 142 tests for users). Finally, as regards the local police force, thanks to the agreement between ATS, the IRCCS Cà Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico di Milano Foundation and the Urban Security Directorate, 854 serological tests were carried out and scheduled.
