Palazzo Marino. Subtitles and sign language translation for City Council meetings

The experimentation started in the last Chamber meetings in view of the resumption in September. Bertolé: “Necessary service that promotes inclusion and participation in the political life of the city”

Milan, July 28 2021 - City Council meetings subtitled in real time and interpreted simultaneously in the Italian sign language (Lis). A novelty launched on an experimental basis for these latest meetings of the Council Chamber Palazzo Marino; a new service resulting from work desired by the City Council itself, developed by the Information Systems and Digital Agenda Directorate and created with professional interpreters.

Subtitles and translation are activated for both City Council meetings convened in person at the headquarters Palazzo Marino and for the work of the Assembly which is held remotely, via videoconference.

"A necessary service - intervenes President Lamberto Bertolé - wanted by the City Council to allow total access to the work of the Chamber also to people with hearing disabilities and thus encourage their inclusion and participation in the political life of the city".
The recording of the Council meetings, including the recording of the Lis interpreter, will be published and archived in a platform on the Municipality Portal for the purposes of transparency and publicity of the institutional activity.

Until now, only the deferred subtitling service was provided for the recordings of sessions already archived.
