Palazzo Marino. The Mayor signs the provision granting delegations

The Department of Environmental Transition is born

Milan, July 19 2019 – Mayor Giuseppe Sala signed the provision which provides for the establishment of the Department of Environmental Transition and the conferral of delegations following the resignation of Pierfrancesco Majorino for his election to the European Parliament.

The Department of Environmental Transition, whose powers are held by the Mayor, will take care of:
• definition of environmental policies;
• definition of policies relating to the improvement of waste disposal and cleaning services in the city;
• definition of energy policies;
• public water governance.

In addition to the powers already conferred, the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo is also assigned:
• definition of policies for voluntary activities, with the exclusion of activities relating to the houses of associations;
• definition of policies for social cohesion activities.

The following responsibilities are attributed to councilor Marco Granelli:
• definition of mobility, transport and infrastructure planning policies;
• addresses and control relating to metros;
• creation and management of the car parks envisaged in the Urban Parking Programme;
• definition of policies for the planning of public works;
• design, construction and maintenance of public works and major works;
• water management and definition of related civil protection policies.

The following responsibilities are attributed to councilor Gabriele Rabaiotti:
• definition and implementation of social and housing policies to support families, the elderly, people with disabilities and people at risk of marginalization;
• implementation of the plan for children and the fight against poverty; promotion of policies to support victims of gender violence;
• immigration;
• promotion and development of health prevention and health culture policies;
• development of initiatives for the affirmation of civil rights;
• definition of policies for public residential construction, social housing and neighborhood contracts;
• valorisation of public assets for the generation of new social residential opportunities and new spaces for social policies.
