Milan, November 8 2019 – “We have always acted with transparency and coherence on the stadium issue. We immediately said that we would first involve the City Council and, only after having had the opinion of those who represent the citizens, would we, as Mayor and Council, take on the responsibility of deciding how to proceed.

In light of the path - technical and political - completed so far, the Council held today resolved the public interest in the proposal of Milan AC and Inter FC on the stadium, but any other works (for example commercial spaces, offices, hotels) will be authorized only to the extent provided for by the current Territorial Government Plan of the Municipality of Milan.

The construction of a new sports facility has, however, raised the question of the future of San Siro. We reiterate our desire to refunctionalize it and therefore we are ready to evaluate solutions that do not involve giving up the current system, but rather its regeneration through other functions".
