Palazzo Marino. Clarification note from the Municipality of Milan

Milan, March 31 2023 – Regarding the arrest of a religious teacher accused of sexual violence against minors, the Municipality of Milan expresses its utmost closeness to the families, reassuring the timely intervention by all municipal structures and the maximum collaboration offered to investigating authorities.

The reports initiated by the educators to the Prosecutor's Office were sudden, as was the action of the Unit for the protection of women and minors of the local police which, on behalf of the Prosecutor's Office itself, carried out the investigations: which allowed us to intervene very quickly.

The municipal administration immediately took an active part in following up on the reports received and considers it a priority to continue its commitment to the protection of minors and to support families.

The necessary support measures, including psychological ones, will therefore be ensured, in collaboration with ATS Milano and with competent professionals and structures.

With respect to the religious teacher - hired on a fixed-term basis, identified by name by the Service for the teaching of the Catholic religion of the Archdiocese of Milan for the educational year 22/23 - once the circumstances of the crime have been acquired by the Prosecutor's Office, the municipal offices will also proceed to activate the foreseen disciplinary measures.
