Milan, January 3 2022 – The Municipality of Milan is among the beneficiaries of the contributions allocated by the Government, through the Next generation EU plan financed by the European Union, for investments in regeneration projects aimed at reducing phenomena of marginalization and social degradation, as well as improving the quality of urban decor and the social and environmental fabric.

With the decree of 30 December last, the request presented by the municipal council was accepted which provides for a total financing of 20 million euros for interventions on public buildings owned by the municipality in the Rizzoli district and for the safety of the Lambro river.

11,5 million are foreseen in detail for general extraordinary maintenance, energy requalification and plant engineering interventions for the ERP complexes located in via Rizzoli 13, 45, 73 and 87 which will allow the renovation and efficiency of the buildings also through the replacement of the systems existing mechanical and electrical; 8,5 million for hydraulic protection interventions of the territory in the floodplain areas of the Lambro river through which it will be possible to improve ecological performance, contain hydraulic risk and encourage the use of the areas by citizens.

Thus the work of the municipal administration for the Lambro river continues, already carried out over the last few years through ReLambro, the project for the ecological network of the Milanese Lambro. In particular, the redevelopment of the area of ​​the former nomad camp in Via Idro will be completed. Further south, however, it will be possible to better protect the territory of the Lambro park from floods, where important social entities such as Exodus and Ceas are located.

"Thanks to the Next Generation EU plan it will be possible to complete decisive interventions for the Rizzoli district – declares Pierfrancesco Maran, housing councilor –. It is essential that the resources made available by the European Union are used in the best possible way to improve the quality of life of those who live in ERP buildings owned by the municipality of Milan".

"We are happy for the arrival of the funds which will allow the creation of the first innovative metropolitan river park and will serve to enhance the entire northern Milan area through interventions to contain the hydraulic risk of the Lambro river together with ecological and landscape enhancement actions – declares Elena Grandi, councilor for green areas -. In this way we will make the area of ​​the Lambro river safer, more attractive and usable by citizens".

Satisfaction with the imminent interventions also on the part of Municipality 3, the area in which the buildings of the Rizzoli district and the Lambro park are located. "This is a great result – declares Caterina Antola, president of Municipality 3 – which underlines the work carried out to support the requests of citizens with particular attention to the maintenance of the ERP buildings, the Lambro river and the adjacent areas".
