Milan, 29 August 2022 – On 3 September 1982, a few months after being appointed Prefect of Palermo, Carabinieri General Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa fell victim to the mafia massacre in Via Carini, where his wife Emanuela Setti Carraro and his wife also lost their lives. the escort agent Domenico Russo.
Forty years after the event, in the wake of similar initiatives launched throughout the national territory, the Municipality of Milan and the Carabinieri will give rise to the institutional celebrations scheduled from 3 to 5 September to honor the memory of those fallen.
The program will open on Saturday 3 September, at 10 am, with the Holy Mass in Suffrage at the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
Following this, at 11 am, the Deposition of the Crowns will take place near the Carabiniere Monument (in Piazza Diaz) and, finally, at 30 pm, the inauguration of the “Emanuela Setti Carraro” promenade will be held in Viale Bianca Maria (corner of via Zanardelli).
The celebrations will continue on Sunday 4 September, at 18 pm, in the splendid setting of the Courtyard of the Arms of the Sforzesco Castle, where the concert of the musical band of the Carabinieri, known throughout the world for the variety of its repertoire, will take place. for the formal perfection of the performances and for the profound musical vocation of the musicians, embellished by the charm and magnificent composure of their uniforms. The concert will be open to the public.
On Monday 5 September, at 10:00 am, the plaque dedicated to Emanuela Setti Carraro and Domenico Russo will be unveiled (in Piazza Diaz), while, at 20:00 pm, at the Franco Parenti Theater, the screening of the film will take place "GENERAL. Reviving Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa” by Dora dalla Chiesa (produced by RAI Storia, directed by Lorenzo Rossi Espagnet).
Furthermore, from 3 to 5 September, between Via Dante and Piazza Castello, a thematic itinerary on the life of General Dalla Chiesa will be set up, conceived as a promotional preview of the exhibition “Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa. The Man, the General” (edited by “Publimedia”) scheduled for the next few months in the major Italian cities, enhanced by the exhibition of historic vehicles of the Carabinieri.
