Palazzo Marino. In Milan, 129 million euros from the Government to strengthen the interventions of the PNRR

Milan, September 9 2022 – 129 million euros of state resources will arrive in Milan to finance ten strategic projects for the development of the city.

Last May, with the so-called Aid decree, the Government had in fact established a fund with an endowment of 665 million euros intended for large cities, penalized by the distribution of funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, for the strengthening of PNRR interventions . With a decree of 31 August from the Ministry of the Interior, in agreement with the ministries of Economy and Regional Affairs, the distribution of this fund between the cities of Milan, Genoa, Naples, Palermo, Rome and Turin was established.

In Milan there are ten projects which will therefore be carried out with state funds and which, like those financed by the PNRR, must be completed by 31 December 2026.

Overcoming architectural barriers
With an investment of 10,550 million euros, two interventions will be carried out to overcome architectural barriers and install new lifts in some stations of the red and green metro lines (Cimiano, Gioia, Wagner).

Bovisa-Goccia
As part of the project for the Bovisa-Goccia area, two interventions will be financed: the creation of the so-called Urban Forest with 15 million euros and the construction, with 36,98 million euros, of the new headquarters of the Civic Schools Foundation.

Archives Center
The Government will also participate in the redevelopment of the Citadel of the archives in Via Gregorovius. The project includes an allocation of 24 million euros which will therefore be partly covered with the state contribution of 6,1 million euros.

Cycle-pedestrian walkway
A contribution of 950 thousand euros will allow the creation, at Via Corrado il Salico, of a cycle/pedestrian walkway over the Vettabbia.

Open squares
One million euros will be invested to continue the Open Squares project, with the creation of new tactical urban planning interventions and particular attention to spaces near school buildings.

Magnificent factory
20 million euros will be used to finance the construction of the first lot of the Magnifica factory project which will concern the construction of the laboratories and warehouses of the Teatro alla Scala.

Milan catering
Milan catering will have a new headquarters, a new cooking center and a new logistics platform which will replace the current one (contracted) located outside Milan, with a view to greater sustainability and better quality of distribution of the meals produced. The expected financing with state funds is 12,6 million euros.

Tramway 24
Finally, with 25,82 million euros, the extension of tram 24 will be financed, for a better connection of the IEO to the city transport network.
