Vegetable market. The Memorandum of Understanding for legality has been renewed

Milan, September 22 2022 – The “Memorandum of understanding for the legality and prevention of infiltration attempts by organized crime” in the Milan vegetable market has been renewed for a further three years (2022-2025).

The Protocol, signed today by the Prefect Renato Saccone, by the President of the SO.GE.MI SpA Company Cesare Ferrero, as well as by the Municipality of Milan, represents an important tool to strengthen the prevention of infiltration attempts by organized crime in relation to the subject companies to anti-mafia controls pursuant to art. 85 of Legislative Decree 6 September 2011, n. 159 operating at the vegetable market.

By virtue of the commitments undertaken, extensive checks will be ensured on all vegetable market operators, through the identification of the subjects accessing the Milan Agri-Food District, the vehicles used and the related goods.

The updated text of the Protocol also provides for the possibility for the police forces and the DIA Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate to use an electronic platform which collects all the information relating to companies and vehicles present and to existing contracts, as a tool aimed at intensify the fight against criminal infiltration and illegal situations, also allowing for targeted and timely on-site access.
