Milan, May 2 2022 – Unveiled this morning in via Silvio Pellico 7, in the presence of representatives of the Milan City Council, the new plaque in memory of the atrocities committed at the Albergo Regina, the former Nazi headquarters of the SS.

Documentary findings in recent years in the State and San Vittore archives have made it possible to ascertain that Jewish citizens also passed through those rooms, in particular in Office IV B4 specifically responsible for anti-Jewish persecution, and destined for San Vittore and platform 21.

For this reason, on the proposal of some of the signatories of the popular petition which in 2010 led to the posting of the first plaque to the former Queen, the word "Jews" was inserted in the commemorative text instead of "human beings" in the passage in which reads: "Here anti-fascists, resisters, Jews whose systematic annihilation had been decided by Nazism and fascism were imprisoned, tortured, murdered, sent to concentration and extermination camps...".

The initiative, promoted by the Presidency of the Municipal Council, falls within the scope of the actions of the Municipality's platform Milan is memory.
