Milan, 29 December 2020 – The meteorological situation has returned to normal after the heavy snowfall which also affected Milan with 20 centimeters of very compact and persistent snow due to the low temperatures.
Once the weather emergency was over, 130 AMSA vehicles continued the work of smoothing and spreading salt on the roads throughout the night to mitigate the formation of ice with the further drop in temperatures.
The interventions are continuing during the day and over 100 AMSA vehicles and companies are operating in the city to clean the streets with targeted interventions in the suburbs and neighborhoods; there are also 500 people present for manual interventions at bus and subway stops and on sidewalk slides.
The operations will continue until the evening.
“We are working to make the whole city passable – declares Marco Granelli councilor for Mobility and Public Works – starting from the main streets, cleaned since early afternoon yesterday, up to the internal streets of the neighborhoods. This is why today the interventions are targeted. We monitor the situation and collect citizens' reports to intervene in the still critical points. We are sorry for the uncomfortable situations that accompanied this intense snowfall, we are now solving all the problems also thanks to the reports that are arriving and the commitment of private individuals who keep the sidewalks in front of the homes clean".
The municipal civil protection is active and coordinates with the AMSA teams to carry out targeted interventions in the neighbourhoods, it is therefore possible to report situations of need to the email address protectioncivile@comume.milano.it or to the telephone switchboard 02 88465001.
We remind all private individuals to clean the sidewalk in front of their home or shop.
