Tajani: “Proud that many private individuals, in this particular moment, wanted to collaborate with the Municipality to light up the city. Gesture of love and hope towards Milan and its citizens"

Milan, November 29 2020 – Sobriety and hope, these are the two words that will characterize the Christmas lights in the city during the upcoming holidays. A choice desired by the Administration, also supported and shared by Confcommercio Milano, sponsor, and street associations that have contributed to lighting up Milan in this particular period of coexistence with the Covid emergency.

“Even in a moment of singular difficulty for the city and for its commercial and productive fabric due to the Covid emergency - declares the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Commerce Cristina Tajani -, thanks to the effectiveness of the collaboration between the Municipality, trade associations and street associations we managed to illuminate the city in a widespread way, enhancing symbolic places such as Corso Buenos Aires, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Corso Venezia, Via Dante, the main commercial axes and also the streets outside the ring road , such as viale Monza up to Sesto San Giovanni. The lights are a sign of light and hope, useful for strengthening the deep bond between the commercial fabric and its inhabitants, encouraging support and grassroots participation of associations and committees whose work, especially at this time, is fundamental to maintaining long live the city. Having given the lights to the city constitutes a true gesture of love and hope towards Milan and its citizens for the many private individuals who collaborated with the Administration”.

“Never before – underlines Gabriel Meghnagi, president of the Confcommercio Milan street association network – do I believe Christmas lights are important for the city, for commercial activities. The objectively difficult situation did not prevent us from finding attention and listening from important sponsors."

Milan will begin to light up with warm lights starting from Tuesday 1st December and in the following days.
Thanks to the #Illuminiamoinsieme intervention by Urban Up | Unipol, a large carpet of light made up of more than 180 thousand white and blue LEDs will run through and illuminate Milan for over 4 km: from the 25 meter high tree of light in Gratosoglio to the bright LEDs in Buenos Aires, Palestro, Corso Venezia with its Caselli, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Corso di Porta Romana, passing from the Galfa Tower, to the cranes in Porta Nuova up to the recently redeveloped building in Via De Castillia, for a total of 12.000 meters of electrical lines, everything will light up at the same time in the city, illuminating it until next January 6th.

Large white comets with blue tails will bring the Christmas atmosphere to via Piero della Francesca and via Poliziano thanks to Nexi which, in addition to illuminating the streets in collaboration with Ascopier and Confcommercio Milano, will make a series of free webinars to raise awareness of the opportunities and benefits that digital payments can bring to support businesses. Listen to good advice.” The three phrases will also appear together with the graphic elements - baubles and Christmas packages - at the entrance to via Tommaso Grossi, which leads to the headquarters of the financial advisors' Milan office.

For the second time Viale Monza also lights up for the holidays, from Piazzale Loreto to Villa San Giovanni thanks to 74 blue arches made up of over 33 thousand LEDs, designed by Nivea specifically to wish a Merry Christmas to all residents and to those who arrive in the area every day. city from the north.

The magical atmosphere of the Fashion Quadrilatero is unmissable where chandeliers of flames of light alternating with green pine spheres will create evocative emotions in the streets of Montenapoleone, Verri, Sant'Andrea, Borgospesso, Bagatta, San Pietro all'Orto and Santo Spirito where installations will also alternate of various sponsors. Also unmissable is the Christmas tree in Piazza Croce Rossa, created this year by the Florentine artist Roberta Cipriani; while the typical Christmas decorations will return to via della Spiga.
