Christmas 2021. The Christmas of the trees returns to Milan

Christmas 2021. The Christmas of the trees returns to Milan

Milan, 1 December 2021 – Piazza Duomo, Piazza della Scala, Piazza San Carlo, Piazza San Fedele, Piazza Cordusio, Piazza Ventiquattro Maggio and Piazza Tre Torri: these are the city locations that will host the second edition of the Christmas of the Trees, the initiative donated to the city last year since the Bracco Foundation, according to the creative concept of Marco Balich, and has become a real format strongly desired by the Administration to rekindle the spirit of Christmas, with the hope of a prompt rebirth after a long period of fear.

This year too, the collaboration between public and private rekindles Christmas for the Milanese thanks to the sustainability trees.

"I want to sincerely thank - declares Martina Riva, councilor for Sport, Tourism and Youth Policies - not only on my behalf and that of the municipal administration but also on behalf of all the Milanese people who, by believing and investing in this project, have helped us helped to create a long, kind and luminous embrace of the city, for a Christmas in which, after so much suffering, no one feels alone anymore".

So here is a short story of the trees that will liven up the Milanese squares throughout the Christmas period.

Piazza Duomo – GVA Redilco & Sigest
The most traditional Christmas tree returns to Piazza Duomo. The square will in fact host "Imagine", a large fir tree measuring approximately 24 and twenty meters which will be illuminated with 80 thousand low consumption LED lights and decorated with 800 red and silver Christmas balls and 60 bows.
Lighted as usual on 6 December, in line with the launch of the 'It's time to Imagine your future space' campaign, the GVA Redilco & Sigest tree will kick off the great embrace of Christmas tree lights 2021. beams of light at the base of the tree, which will point to the sky, will in fact re-propose, also in a symbolic perspective, the centrality of Piazza Duomo, ideally calling the Milanese to gather in their most iconic place.
This tree was also chosen for its ability to embody some of the fundamental values of the Milan of the future: environmental sustainability and innovation.
It is in fact a Lombard tree, almost zero kilometer (it comes from Cittiglio in the province of Varese), the cutting of which will be compensated by the planting of ten new plants. The volume of pollution produced by transport will also be significantly reduced given the short distance and, once the holidays are over, the fir wood will be reused for the benefit of all citizens, with a view to maximizing environmental sustainability.

Piazza della Scala – Jo Malone London
A tree to be "unwrapped" for a Christmas in the name of altruism, which does not forget the values of knowing how to welcome and wanting to give.
Made with large gift boxes and magical lights, the tree in Piazza della Scala, born from the visionary British creativity of Jo Malone London, intends to capture and convey an emotion. Visitors will be able to enter the structure and suddenly find themselves immersed in a universe of stars. A unique sensorial experience between fragrances and magical lights.

Piazza San Carlo – A2A
Adults and children alike will be enchanted by the dance of light from the magical luminescent tree in Piazza San Carlo. In fact, A2A's Christmas arrives in Milan with an innovative wattle and LED installation which "comes to life" as evening falls.
A true dance of light, where luminous swarms will generate a dreamlike and elegant natural and even reactive choreography.

Piazza Cordusio - Lancome
Feeling Parisian in Milan: here is Lancome's bet, which will even bring the Eiffel Tower to Milan this Christmas.
Thanks to a scale reproduction of the symbolic monument of Paris, wrapped in a Christmas scenario made of trees of lights, sleighs and gift packages, Piazza Cordusio will be transformed into a real urban living room for the entire festive period.
The lighting system will be developed with the use of low consumption LEDs for greater energy efficiency, while the perfume bottles of the French house, an integral part of the installation, will animate a charity program aimed at young people who find themselves in economic difficulty .

Piazza San Fedele – Cartoon network
Even the little ones will have a specially dedicated tree thanks to the generosity of Cartoon Network, which will create a playful installation in Piazza San Fedele for families and children of all ages.
Girls and boys will be invited to make their Christmas decorations in a painting workshop and then walk through a colorful labyrinth to hang their work. All the plants used will be kept alive and reinterred at the end of the exhibition, with an environmental impact therefore reduced to zero. The most famous cartoons from the Cartoon network and Boomerang channels will be broadcast on the giant screen next to the installation, to make this corner of Milan a truly child-friendly place.

Piazza Tre Torri – Citylife Shopping District
Crossing Citylife during these holidays will mean finding yourself immersed in a starry vault, thanks to the innovative contemporary artistic installation imagined for Christmas in Piazza Tre Torri.
Above the structure, nine meters high, the first suspended Christmas tree in the history of Milan will stand out, which will light up every evening at 17pm, giving life to a futuristic and glittering show, capable of keeping everyone "with their noses at the upward".

Piazza XXIV Maggio – Radio Deejay
A few steps from the Darsena, in Piazza XXIV Maggio, Radio Deejay will meet its audience and visitors under the Deejay Xmas tree, the Christmas installation which will host not only a tree but also moments of entertainment in the presence of the well-known faces of the radio.
The symbol of Christmas therefore becomes a place of aggregation and entertainment, thanks to the ability of Radio Deejay artists to tell stories and involve listeners.
