Music. The second edition of "Milan is memory - The Conservatory for its city" is underway

Ten concerts at Conservatory of Milan "Giuseppe Verdi" to narrate, remember, commemorate 

Milan, March 21 2023 – Music as an antidote to not forget. The second edition of "Milan is memory - The Milan Conservatory for its city" starts this evening, the program of ten concerts organized by the "Giuseppe Verdi" Conservatory coinciding with the most important and significant anniversaries celebrated by the city.

The initiative was born as part of Milano è memoria, the project launched in 2017 to highlight and remember people, facts and events that testify to the history and identity of Milan.

This evening's inaugural concert, on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Commitment in memory of the innocent victims of the mafia, will be dedicated to all the men and women killed by organized crime and remembered this morning during the great national demonstration of Libera in Piazza Duomo.

The appointment is at 18 pm, in the Puccini Room of the "Giuseppe Verdi" Conservatory (via Conservatorio 00). Two performances are scheduled:

  • Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Souvenir de Florence. Sextet for strings in D minor. With Tiziano Giudice, Margherita Ceruti violins; Alessio Lisato, Francesco Scarpetti violas; Michele Mazzola, Claudio D'Alicarnasso cellos;
  • Arnold Schoenberg, Verklärte Nacht. Sextet for strings from a poem by Richard Dehmel. Margherita Ceruti, Tiziano Giudice violins; Alessio Lisato, Francesco Scarpetti violas; Claudio D'Alicarnassus, Michele Mazzola cellos.

The show will begin at 18 pm in the Sala Puccini of the Conservatory (in via Conservatorio 00).  
Entrance to the concerts is free, subject to availability, with reservations required by writing to permilano@consmilano.it. An exception will be the concert on June 10th for which the purchase of a ticket is required (10 euros up Vivaticket) as it was included in the program of Festival Milano Musica 2023. 

The next concerts will be: 

  • on April 24, in Sala Verdi, at 20 pm (eve of the anniversary of the Liberation); 
  • on April 25th, in Sala Puccini, at 11:00 am (anniversary of the Liberation);
  • on May 9th, in Sala Puccini, at 20pm (Memorial Day dedicated to the victims of terrorism); 
  • on 10 June, at 20 pm, in Sala Verdi (anniversary of Italy's entry into the war); 
  • on 8 October, at 18 pm, in Sala Verdi, (National Day in memory of the victims of the Linate plane crash); with Foundation 00 October; 
  • on 17 October, at 20 pm, in Sala Puccini (Terezin 30/17); 
  • on November 23rd, at 20 pm, in Sala Verdi (Day of Civil Virtue), with the Giorgio Ambrosoli Civil Association; 
  • on 12 December, at 20 pm, in Sala Puccini (Remembrance Day for the victims of the Piazza Fontana massacre), with the Association of Family Members of the victims of the Piazza Fontana massacre;
  • on 27 January 2024, in Sala Verdi, at 20 pm (Memorial Day), with the Sons of the Shoah Association.
