The ordinance of the Mayor Giuseppe Sala in force from 7 August to 5 September, from 22pm to 5am, in the most frequented areas in the evening and at night - The text of the ordinance

Milan, August 6 2021 – From tomorrow, Saturday 7 August, to 5 September, from 22pm to 5am in the nightlife areas it will be forbidden to sell or serve take-away food and drinks in glass or can bottles and containers. Only paper or plastic containers may be used after tapping or pouring the drinks. The use of glass and cans will be permitted exclusively inside the premises or in the stalls with table service.

This is what is established by an ordinance signed by the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala which aims to make the squares, streets and neighborhoods most frequented in the evening and at night by young people, and not only, safer and cleaner.

The provision, motivated precisely by reasons of protection of decorum, the environment, cultural heritage and safety, applies to all types of neighborhood businesses, medium and large sales structures, commercial activities, takeaway artisans, public establishments , vending machines and street food that work in the areas of the Duomo, the Arco della pace, Ticinese, Darsena, Navigli and Tortona, Nolo, Corso Como, Gae Aulenti, Garibaldi and Brera, and finally in the Isola, Lazzaretto and Melzo.

The ordinance is in continuity with the Protocol signed on 3 August in the Prefecture of Milan "aimed at collaboration for the implementation of joint actions in favor of young people in the field of night entertainment in the 'nightlife' areas for the prevention and contrast of antisocial behavior". Among the measures, in addition to safety interventions, innovative actions are envisaged to promote a healthy culture of entertainment, with qualified supervision and contributions for projects that promote respectful and civil coexistence in neighborhoods.
