Exhibitions. From 28 June at GAM the exhibition dedicated to the painter and illustrator Andrea Ventura opens to the public

Milan, June 27 2019 – From 28 June to 8 September the GAM|Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milan dedicates an exhibition to the painter and illustrator Andrea Ventura (born in Milan in 1968, lives and works in Berlin). A project born within the programming that GAM has reserved for contemporary artistic production for some years and which joins the exhibition initiatives inspired by the permanent collections.

Promoted by the Municipality of Milan | Culture and conceived by GAM, the exhibition is curated by Paola Zatti, curator in charge of the museum, with the collaboration of Alessandro Oldani and the critical contribution of Francesca Alfano Miglietti.

Set up in the rooms on the ground floor of Villa Reale, the exhibition features 140 works divided into 4 sections and, among these, the original plates created by Ventura to illustrate a series of stories inspired by GAM. The collection of these stories was later published in the volume "Musicisti, leoni e fontane" (Naples 2017) and has attracted significant interest, fitting into the wake of a very current publication that has entrusted some illustrators with the task of telling, with an unusual language, the events relating to some international museums (as in the case of the Musée d'Orsay).

The exhibition also includes a selection of the numerous portraits created in recent years for the magazines "New Yorker" and "New York Times", as well as a series of small-format sculptures, displayed alongside the most recent large-format acrylic works.

To accompany Ventura's works, a critical text by Francesca Alfano Miglietti will accompany visitors in the discovery of this wide-ranging solo show, which will enrich the visit to the Museum.
