Monumental. The children's show "22 + 23" will be staged on Saturday 1918nd and Sunday 1rd

Appointment at the weekend with free theatrical visits dedicated to the First World War

Milan, June 20 2019 – A weekend of games and discoveries along the avenues of the Monumental Cemetery. On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June the theater company Ditta gioco faba, thanks to the support of the Cariplo Foundation and in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan, will accompany children and young people on a special journey dedicated to the history of the First World War entitled "1918 + 1 ”.

On Saturday at 15pm and on Sunday at 30am and 10pm, Garibaldi's Giulio Lavezzari will be waiting for spectators in the entrance square of the Monumentale to lead them in search of the men of his battalion to be identified using the maps and orders of the Royal Army.

In 1915, when Italy entered the war, Lavezzari was already almost 70 years old but Garibaldi himself, appearing to him in a dream, asked him to volunteer and so, among many young conscripts, there was also this distinguished gentleman with a thick white moustache.

The search for his companions will unfold along the Monumental in a walk of about an hour and a half between numerous encounters: a convinced interventionist, an aggressive Arditi officer, a deserter but also a mysterious female figure who does not want to reveal her name. During the route you will come across the tombs of the fallen and of some great figures of the past, including Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Arturo Toscanini, Enzo Tortora.

Participation in the shows is free with reservations required by writing to the email address info@dittagiocofiaba.com.

The meeting point is in the entrance square of the Monumental cemetery - Piazzale Cimitero Monumentale in Milan (M5 Monumentale). The initiative will last approximately 90 minutes and will take place even in case of bad weather.
